Disease from contaminated water is a worldwide major cause of disease and premature death particularly among children and the elderly. Globally disaster events to include hurricanes, earthquakes, floods and other events result in or exacerbate the issues of contaminated water. Much of the time contaminated water resources result in Cholera outbreaks and deaths e.g. Haiti, Mozambique and other epidemics.
On an everyday basis, poor sanitation and hygiene around the globe including in the developed world, results in the spread of the common cold, Influenza, H1N1, Dysentery and other maladies everyday. Most recently there is the outbreak of Coronavirus which has demonstrated that in today’s interconnected world there are effectively no borders.
The problem is more acute in certain areas but is widespread globally. There is a reason that in almost every building and restroom in developed countries hand sanitizer stations are ubiquitous. If it is not Cholera as in the developing world it is the flu in the developed. (The CDC estimates that in the USA alone influenza has resulted in between 9,000,000-45,000,000 million illnesses, between 140,000-810,000 hospitalizations and between 12000-61000 deaths from 2010-2018. Worldwide it is estimated that between 291,000 and 646,000 people die each year.)
As a water chemist and disaster mitigation and response specialist, our founder Charles Botwick has responded to these problems for over 40 years. He has been involved in designing, manufacturing and providing worldwide, special first aid kits, hygiene kits, mobile water purification units and trauma medical kits.
From the many event situations occurring over decades, Charles has witnessed first hand the problems associated with effective response & distribution efforts. To meet these challenges Charles conceived of and created a series of special kits designed to prevent and treat Cholera, Influenza, Dysentery and other infectious diseases.
